This three week course has been designed especially for priests, laity, religious, and all those persons who have an interest in Hispanic people and Hispanic ministry.
Our program provides the student with the necessary skills to communicate in Spanish, knowledge of the Hispanic environment in daily life situations, and a pastoral dimension geared toward Hispanic ministry. For over 30 years, the course has successfully served bishops, priests, religious brothers and sisters, directors of religious education, and laity who serve the Church in very diverse ministries.
Recommended for beginners, the course follows a psycho-generative methodology, accompanied by a team-teaching learning approach. The vocabulary is selected on the basis of the need for every day conversation and for pastoral work with Hispanics. The student will reach a good level of communication through the acquisition of the basic language skills: listening, writing, speaking and reading.
The various cultural experiences as well as our daily prayers and Eucharist are an integral part of the course. Cultural presentations pay special attention to four of the largest Hispanic groups living in the U.S.: Mexicans, Colombians, Cubans, and Nicaraguans. We also discuss the Hispanic presence in the United States and how the Hispanic Apostolate has developed over the years within the life of the Church.
